Seasons of Glass
Bored and restless, Jasper thinks he will never escape the sleepy, desert town of Benton. Little does he know, his life is about to become more exciting than he could ever imagine. Jasper’s wild ride begins one day when an odd little man brings a magic mirror into the antique shop owned by his mother. The mirror’s magic is activated by a sequence of notes Jasper unknowingly strums. The next thing he knows, he’s trapped inside the mirror in a twilight world of glass as the mirror transports him back to Renaissance England and the chamber of a nobleman’s daughter, Elena Culstone. While Jasper despairs of every being free of the mirror or returning to his own time, he falls in love with the fiery Elena, who believes the young man she glimpses in her mirror is a figment of her imagination. The mirror is stolen from Elena’s chamber by one of the sorcerers with the power of a season. Locked inside the glass, Jasper overhears the musical key that frees him. As he flees the sorcerer’s dark magic and struggles to survive in the harsh and primitive world of the past, he searches for Elena. With four evil sorcerers hunting him bent on revenge, will he find her before they find him? |
March 14, 2015 ~ I thoroughly enjoyed this book about magical mirrors, malevolent siblings fighting over control of the ONE mirror that was all powerful and could take them to different times in history forward or back and much much more. I loved the full descriptions and the clear distinctions between characters. I loved this book and I'd like to see more from L E Frost. I hope this author writes and writes and writes so I can read and read and read. (5 Stars) R&B
December 4, 2014 ~ This book was suggested to me by a friend. I am forever grateful for the suggestion!!! Wow! This is an incredibly well written book that grabs hold of you and never lets go! The characters are so well developed and it is easy to relate to all of them. Jasper is a young man who lives with his mom. Lauren, his mom, runs an antique shop in rural AZ desert town. One day a man sells her a beautiful unique mirror. Jasper is uncomfortable with the mirror and his love of playing his flute leads him to find out what it is about the mirror that bothers him! Come get your copy and find out what Renaissance England has to do with Benton, AZ. Take a ride through time and enjoy L E Frost's tale of magic, sibling rivalry, love and hope! 5 stars is way too few for this amazing book! I do hope there is more to come!!!! (5 Stars) Cindy J. December 2, 2014 ~ Enchanting and magical, a fantastic tale that L.E Frost enthralls and utterly captivates you with. From the start you are pulled into the many lives and stratagems woven with such incredibly skilled perfection throughout this tale. All ages will find this story riveting and nearly impossible to put down. Well developed characters that come alive, Adventure, Time Travel, Magic, Sibling Rivalry, Love--- and so much more. There are so many wonderful things about this story. One of the absolute best fantasy stories I have read in a very long time! The ONLY spoiler I will give of this book is --- You Are Going To Love It! This is a 'packed-to-the-brim' novel that should find its way into the movies. ---It is that good!
TEN STARS IF POSSIBLE! (5 Stars) Wren Hartwood
May 12, 2014 ~ Seasons of Glass is quite an original and captivating story of romance, sorcery, intrigue and time travel between a small, contemporary American desert town and Renaissance England. With a sharp eye for detail, Frost paints a fairly complex tale involving several characters, and does an excellent job in bringing all the pieces together in a gratifying manner. The exploits of the Sismondi brothers and sisters, each cleverly characterized by one of the four seasons, are very entertaining and a lot of fun to follow. They really bring sibling rivalry to a new height. But...of course, I was cheering all the way for high spirited Elena and sweet, lute playing Jasper. I felt such sympathy for Lauren, agonizing over the disappearance of her son, while trying so hard to remain hopeful for his return.
Seasons of Glass represents a genre of writing to which I am not typically drawn. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward with anticipation to its sequel. (5 Stars) Linda Perotti
